METRORAYA.com – Around 50 community organizations (CSOs) in Poso District, Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, held peaceful protests. They demanded to stop the violence and massacres of Muslims in Myanmar.
The joint demonstration of ORMAS Kota Poso is KAMMI, HMI, LMND. They also visited the Poso DPRD Office. The rally took place Tuesday afternoon (05/09/2017).
Massa delivered several demands, including removing all forms of oppression by the Government of Myanmar against Ethnic Rohingya.
The masses slammed violent atrocities in Myanmar. The masses also asked all parties in Indonesia to sever the diplomatic relations between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of Myanmar.
Massa also called on the government to respond quickly to Rohingya ethnic refugees, as well as lift Nobel peace laureate Aung San Suu Kyi over the failure of peace in Myanmar.
The oration was welcomed by one of the representatives of the DPRD of Poso Muhaimain Yunus Hadi from the National Mandate Party (PAN) who was accompanied by other council members Fredik Torunde PDIP faction, Sahir Sampeali PKS Faction.
Police were also mobilized to secure the protests in the region.
“We accompany the protesters with the best service according to SOP in order to avoid the anarchic action,” said Head of Operations (Kabagops) Poso Police Station, Anton Muhammad, Tuesday (5/9/2017). (agl/hpp)
